October Workshop with Mary Ann Beckwith

Our October workshop in conjunction with the Annual Members’ Show will very likely introduce the participants to one of the most gifted teachers they have encountered. Mary Ann, who has won the Distinguished Teaching Award at Michigan Tech, says about her students: “I love watching them take my challenges and try projects out of their safety zone. I teach them that taking the safe road and getting predictable results is not as fulfilling as taking some risks and finding their own voice in the results.” Mary Ann’s series, Looking North, recreates the archetypal Keweenaw Peninsula scenes, finding the contrast of the light and dark patterns. This is her home country: what she truly loves. She will encourage WAS-H painters to find and paint what they love, using shapes, lines, colors and marks to create a very personal image. As of now we still have some spaces in the October 14 -18 workshop, so don’t miss this opportunity!
